5th Annual Kids Float Canoe Trip

Charlottesville Parks and Recreation has teamed up with the local chapter of the Float Fisherman of Virginia, a canoeing organization, to host its annual Kids Float on the James River. The trip is designed to give city youth, who have never canoed before, the opportunity to float Virginia’s largest river. We will be putting in at Warren’s Ferry making our way to Hatton’s Ferry.  Lunch, snacks and drinks are provided for all volunteers.

KID FLOAT 2011 DIRECTIONS: Please arrive at the PUT IN (Warren’s Ferry) by 9:30 am to leave your vehicle there.  Shuttle vehicles will bring you back to the put in after we paddle.  There will be canoe trailers & vehicles at the take out (Hatton’s Ferry) to take your boat/equipment and you, back to your vehicles.  If you have your own boat and would like to leave your boat at the take out, you must arrive by 8:30am.  This will give us time to get your boat unloaded and run your vehicle to the take out and get back in time for the kids.  LAST shuttle to the take out @ 9:15am!!!!!  There is limited space at the take out; people without boats need to leave their vehicles at the put in.  We will be able to park our vehicles on the Tapscott property (right next to the put in) so that our vehicles are secure during the day. I know this may be confusing for many of you, PLEASE try to make it to the PUT IN (Warren’s Ferry) by 9:30am!!!    Questions: Contact Ginnie by FRIDAY 11:00 AM at 434-962-3224.  I WILL BE CAMPING @ THE PUT IN (TAPSCOTT PROPERTY) STARTING FRIDAY AFTERNOON; THERE IS NOT GOOD CELL SERVICE @ TAPSCOTT’S.  THERE IS PLENTY OF SPACE FOR ANYONE ELSE THAT WOULD LIKE TO CAMP FRIDAY AND/OR SATURDAY NIGHT.
